About This Book
In general, as we grow older, our muscles shrink in number and in size (atrophy) and become less sensitive to messages from the Brain and Central Nervous System. This contributes to a decrease in strength, balance, and coordination. Additionally, our bones begin to lose density and become weaker. Fortunately, resistance exercise can reverse much of this decline by increasing the size and strength of shrunken muscles. Stress applied to healthy muscles, bones, and connective tissues will cause these structures to become stronger, larger and increase density. The book focuses on using RESISTANCE BANDS as one of the main tools to get stronger. They are inexpensive, versatile, portable, and can be used easily at home. So you can keep yourself strong without any need to go to a gym, or attend special exercise classes.
