About This Book
On Ramesh's thirtieth birthday, he expects to spend the day following his usual pattern - breakfast with his father and stepmother and the weekly run in his rare, hand-made Morgan car, looking forward to dinner at the large family home his father designed to accomodate his two sons, and eventually their respective wives and families. Arun, the younger brother, maintains links with his birth mother Catherine, and has never agreed to his father's lifestyle and the expectations that he and Ramesh, both Anglo-Indians, should follow strictly Indian lives while living in Sydney, Asstralia. Since receiving a birthday card from Catherine, Ramesh has been unsettled. He has had no real contact with his mother for almost eight years but the action explodes with the impending announcement of his engagement to a girl he hardly knows and has no desire to know better. Ramesh's refusal marks the first step of a journey that changes or affects in some way, the lives of others, not least his own in ways he would not have dreamed of.
